Subaudition

Noun: 1. The act of understanding and mentally supplying a word or thought that has been implied but not expressed. 2. A word or thought supplied by subaudition.
Etymology: Late Latin subaudti, subaudtin-, from subaudtus, past participle of subaudre, to supply an omitted word : Latin sub-, sub- + Latin audre, to hear; see au- in Appendix I.

I don't think you can use definition # 2. No definition should use the word being defined to describe it, regardless of if it has already been defined in definition #1. Dictionaries are stupid and should only be used to throw at people.

I agree with the first statement on definition. However, dictionaries should not be thrown around so lightly. They require precise direction and aim. Otherwise they bludgeon little and educate even less.
