Fujitsu finally makes the list

Major corporations downloading the 100 million Facebook pages off Bittorrent. Including Fujitsu, somewhere in then top largest 60 companies.

Yes, I have been pretty down on my company lately. I'm in the epicenter of a soon to happen quake of implementation of a new system, and it has been hard going trying to bring the impact down as much as possible. But overall, I've had a good time of it at this company compared to some other jobs I've had, and while there is a multitude of things to complain about now, hopefully this will change in the future. That said,I really think there are a ton of people at my job that complain for no reason other than to hear themselves complain, or that they don't understand they are not being asked to do too much work, as they get paid for it. So, in general, this rather makes me laugh, that now all of the wonderful whining and complaining is available publicly, and while it probably is some peon downloading it, I can't help but wish it were the new CEO, and preferably one with a vengeance for anti-company information.

Mostly just for the comedic effect.

Yay 2nd Amendment!

Bullet-makers are working around the clock, seven days a week, and still can't keep up with the nation's demand for ammunition.

Still won't matter with the coming zombie invasion. I'll take a bo or baseball bat any day over a handgun. Maybe I'll even make use out of the stack of vinyls in my closet.

Talk About Journalism...

Chris Martin walks out of interview

..

Maybe context is everything. I'm not a fan of Coldplay, I think they are a shitty version of U2. And anyone that knows me understands how I think U2 is a completely worthless band. But I have to give the dude credit here. He is questioned on something, takes a diplomatic approach and says "I wouldn't agree with you there at all, no. I'd say you're journalistically twisting me into saying something I don't really mean." Questioned on something else, says he's "not really enjoying things" and excuses himself for 2 minutes.

Talk about journalism twisting of words. The man excused himself and left for a few minutes, which amazingly, is not the same thing as throwing a hissy fit. Perhaps this is just a terrible journalist twisting something mundane into a 'story'. Perhaps this was a terrible journalist not giving credit to how upset he actually was over something banal. Either way, Yahoo needs to wake up and get someone who can write about a topic correctly and accurately, conveying the emotions through adjectives. The writer tried to stay neutral and all we get is unknown? Well done, my electronic newspaper man. Well done.

Seriously?

"Since the storm, I haven't had any energy or pep to go get a job, but when push comes to shove, I will"

Know what? I lack energy or pep to go to work daily either! Especially with the non-asked-for single person doing everything bit! Amazingly, the paycheck/ability to afford things I'd like keeps winning out. It's been almost 3 years. Cut the bloody f*#%ing cord.

Nom nom nom

Breast feeding highest percent in 20 years

I had a roommate in college who had been adopted that I always liked to pick on saying that forula kids have an average of 20 IQ points lower than breast-fed kids. Those were good times. This would make me feel better overall, except that now it is a generation mostly of breast-fed kids whose parents dine on fast food.

Economic trickle-effect as a rule of food intake x newborns = people who take care of old me?

Makes me want to die young. Don't see this actually turning out as well as the predict.

Best statement to back me up on this? "The latest CDC report found rates of breast-feeding were also lowest among women who are unmarried, poor, rural, younger than 20, and have a high school education or less."

Why write a law just to not use it?

The law: It gives police officers the discretion to arrest a suspect – as they have been doing – or write citations for a series of class A and B misdemeanors for possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana.

Other applications: Other misdemeanors for which officers can now write tickets include driving with an invalid license, criminal mischief, creating graffiti and theft, as long as the damage costs for each incident is less than $500.

Possible punishment: A class A misdemeanor can result in up to one year in jail and fines of up to $4,000. A class B misdemeanor can result in up to 180 days in jail and up to $2,000 in fines.

But the new law, which went into effect Sept. 1, is being used only in Travis County. Prosecutors in Dallas, Tarrant and Collin counties never set up a system to process the misdemeanor citations and, they say, they have no plans to do so.

Leave it to hippieland Austin to actually enforce a method such as this. Why conserve resources when it makes much more sense to send someone down to Lew Sterrett instead?

Pirates!

Failed Pirate attempt in Liverpool

I think what I like best is that everyday culture has been so transformed by movies that a news article makes mention of an actual pirate and a movie character in the same quote, and both are completely acceptable and need no further explanation.

Ridiculous Software

Beijing, China (AHN) -- Mosquito population in China quickly multiplies during autumn and a Chinese Web site trying to cash in on the problem, is offering Chinese consumers a special mobile phone software that claims to repel mosquitoes. The software, available on download over the Internet, claims to release mosquito repellent waves.

I'm sure it works great. While they're at it, they should try to download sleep, food and happiness software programs and see how well they feel given a few days.

..Scratch that last option. I'm pretty sur many would think they had downloaded happiness as long as thet got some porn.

Why Radiohead? Ever?

SEATTLE - A woman attacked a karaoke singer belting out Coldplay on Thursday night, telling him he ``sucked'' before she pushed and punched him to get him to stop singing, bar staff said.

This is why you sing karaoke at home. Or make damn well sure you have a great voice. After hanging out with my friend Scot a few times at McCarty's and always being blessed by karaoke night, I have to say I would side with the woman in this case.

Music makes it hard to sleep on a bench

So what is it with Seattle, homeless people and the news lately, Ja'? They are taking over the media, being in every story...

Kudos Media

MSNBC: Welcome to the past

MSNBC just relased an article hailing the Montana Meth Project. Unfortunately, no mention whatsoever was made the the creator, Darren Arokonfsky. Just saying instead how hard hitting they are instead.

MSNBC, I just want to welcome you to May 2007. They came out months ago. Hell, I even posted about these before, and I'm normally a little behind the times.

June 15th is International Elder Abuse Day. The idea is awful, but the name brings about the feeling you should be participating.
