Life as Irony

Link dump. I used to be very obsessive about writing down ever single quotes I even mildly liked and collecting it in a notebook. Today I found the notebook. Sometimes being reminded is important.

"Internal corruption, That's the oldest one of all. The farce has beeen going on for centuries and men still fall for it. Yet the test should be so simple: just listen to any prophetand you head him speak of sacrifice - run. Run fsaster than from a plague. It stands to reason that where there's a sacrifice, there's someone collecting sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there's someone being served. The man who spekas to you of sacrifice speaks of slaves and masters. And intends to be the master. But if you hear a man telling you that you must be happym that it is your natural right, that your first duty is to yourself - that will be the man who's not after four soul. That will be the man who has nothing to gain from you. But let him come and you'll scream your empty heads off, howling that he is a selfish monster." - Ayn Rand

"In tragedy the tragic myth is reborn from the matrix of music. It inspires the most extravagant hopes, and promises oblivion of the bitterest pain." - Frederick Nietzsche

"I think we often make choices based on the safety of cynicism, and what we're led to is a life not fully lived. Cynicism is fear, and it's worse than fear - it's active disengagament." - Ken Bunns

"Loneliness is the price we have to pay for being born in the modern age, so full of freedom, independence, and our own emotional selves." - Natsume Soseki, Kokoro

"Dans le fond des forĂȘts votre image me suit" - Racine
